November 6th

"Blaine, baby, are you okay?  Of course you're not okay, you collapsed." Rachel cried as soon as she reached him room, rushing over to his side and reaching out for him.

"Baby, I'm okay, the doctor said I was dehydrated.  My head hurts a little from when I fell, but I'm okay!"  Blaine said calmly trying to calm his wife.

"Dr. Monroe, you said you knew what cause this...what's wrong with my husband?  Why did he collapse, from being dehydrated???"  Rachel asked, clearly not accepting that answer.

"Mr. Anderson, I don't know what to tell you this, other than to just come out and say it.  You're pregnant.  Did you know you have the Carrier Gene?"

Blaine paled, clearly shocked, "Yes, I know I have the carrier gene, I have a little girl, that I gave birth to almost 2 years ago, but I was on birth control.  We BOTH are on birth control."

"Well sir, obviously your birth control failed.  We see that from time to time, when couples have been on it for long periods of time.  Been on it for longer than 2 years?" Dr. Monroe asked.

"No, I had my daughter in December, 2018, my OB/GYN started me on birth control in Feb 2019, after my 6 week appointment.  So about a year and half."

"Well, I guess it's possible your body adjusted to it.  But regardless you're pregnant.  I'd say somewhere around 10-14 weeks, hard to tell without a ultrasound, we're just going based off your blood test.  You'll want to make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.  The collapse was caused by a combination of too much stress on your body, not eating enough, dehydration, and exhaustion.  If you want to continue with this pregnancy, you need to take it easier on your body."

"Well that's easier said than done when you don't even know your pregnant!  It's not like I'm woman, I don't have missed periods to tell me I'm pregnant!  I've had no morning sickness, which was the indicator the first time!"

"Blaine honey, calm down, the doctor didn't mean for it to sound like he was coming down on you, he just meant you need to take it easier and take care of yourself.  It's okay love."  Rachel said calmly, trying to placate Blaine.

"I'm sorry, you're right, that was just a major shock.  I was expecting some kind of illness, or exhaustion from working too hard.  Not pregnancy.  Not when we were on birth control, it was the farthest thing from my mind.  I guess there goes Hit List."  He said with a grimace.

"Dr. Can you leave us alone for a little bit to talk, or release Blaine if he's okay to leave?"

"Of course, Mrs. Anderson.  Blaine you're fine to leave, but I want you to spend the next 72 hours at home on a modified bed rest.  No heavy lifting, just rest and give your body time to recover.  Okay.  And follow up with your doctor as soon as possible."

Blaine nodded.

"Blaine.  Look at me."  Rachel ordered, and shocked Blaine looked up at her.  "We need to decide if we want to continue on with this pregnancy.  I would NEVER ask you to carry a child that you did not want to.  I know this was a huge shock, and it's unexpected.  You're in the middle of a huge project, and I don't want to force you to drop it, or I don't want you to feel forced to drop it.  Talk to me.  What do you want to do?"

Blaine sighed and pulled Rachel into hug him, "I'm sorry babe, I didn't mean that the way it sounded.  Yes, I'm extremely shocked, but this child is a part of me and you.  You know me, I would never give that up.  Yes, it's unexpected, and I'm not sure if we are ready for another child, but it's here now.  I'll talk with Derek.  and we'll figure it out.  Right now there is only one of my songs that I know is to physically active to do while pregnant.  And maybe we'll get lucky and the project will get drawn out."  Blaine took a deep breath and steadied himself.  "What do you say we call Dr. Summers and see when we can get in?  I also need to call Derek and let him know I won't be there on Monday.  He's gonna be thrilled."

"Well ya'll were friendly before the musical, so let's hope he'll be understanding.  I know he doesn't have a family.  But we'll see."

Rachel got busy calling up to Dr. Summers office to see when they could get an appointment  She let the receptionist know that Blaine had just been released from the hospital and the doctor had told them that he was pregnant.  She got lucky and Dr. Summers was right there and asked to speak with her.

"Rachel, this is Dr. Summers.  What happened?"

"Blaine collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital, where we were told, after he came too, that he was pregnant, he was just released."

"Can ya'll get up here right now, I'm free for the rest of the afternoon and I'd like to see him as soon as possible to make sure that he and the baby are okay."

"Hang on."  Rachel turned to Blaine and explained Dr. Summers wanted to see him ASAP, he nodded, and they hailed a cab.  "We're on our way.  We'll be there in 5-10 minutes."

"Okay, I'll get the room ready.  See ya'll soon."
